Mindora Magazine
Made by Children, for Everyone
Mindora is a children’s magazine born in the community libraries of PeFSSED — where children themselves are the writers and artists. It gives young voices a platform and brings their stories, poems, essays, drawings, paintings and crafts out into the world.
The Story Behind the Magazine
What began as a creative exercise in one library has grown into a movement across the PeFSSED network
From Library to Magazine
Libraries are not only for reading books but also for nurturing a wide range of creative activities. They serve as welcoming spaces for community engagement. To involve children from schools in and around our first library at Venkatapuram, we organized several events, and the response was overwhelming — and that’s how Mindora was born.

Children as Authors and Artists
Every word and every drawing in Mindora comes from children in the community. They write poems and short stories, reflect on different themes through art and essays. Facilitators guide the process, but creative ownership belongs entirely to the children.

Editions of Mindora
Each edition is anchored by one of the PeFSSED’s libraries
Why Mindora Matters
A magazine made by children does far more than tell stories
Builds Confidence
When a child’s words are printed and read by hundreds of people, it changes how they see themselves — as thinkers, creators, and contributors to society.
Connects Libraries to Creativity
Mindora turns the library from a place of receiving knowledge into a place of producing it. Children become active participants, not just passive readers.
Preserves Local Stories
The stories, observations, and artwork in each edition document the lived realities of rural children — voices that are rarely heard in mainstream media.
Inspires Communities
Families, teachers, and community members who read Mindora see the potential of the children around them — and are inspired to invest more in their futures.
How Each Edition Is Made
A collaborative process involving children connected to PeFSSED Libraries
Children Contribute
Over six to eight weeks, children contribute stories, poems, reflective essays, drawings, paintings, and crafts around the chosen theme.
Facilitators Review
PeFSSED facilitators and teacher- volunteers review submissions, provide gentle feedback, and help children finalise their pieces.
Magazine Printed
Selected pieces are designed and laid out into a print-ready magazine. Every child contributor is credited by name and photograph as an author or artist.
Magazine Distributed
Copies are distributed free of charge to all contributors, partner schools, community stakeholders and copies of magazines are also kept in the libraries.
Be Part of the Next Edition
Whether you are a child with a story to tell, a school that wants to participate, or a donor who wants to fund the next print run — there is a place for you in the Mindora family.
