PeFSSED’s Study group project is designed to guide school children in the subjects they find difficult to study on their own as well as for addressing specific academic difficulties of children who have dropped out. Slow learners are so because of multitude of reasons: apathy of school and teachers, lack of guidance at home because of low educational level of parents or their lack of interest in children’s education. Low family income coupled with lack of awareness in guardians prevents these children to avail the study classes privately. These children remain disinterested in studies which result in poor performance and eventually they drop out from mainstream education.

Similarly, in case of already dropouts, the dropout children face many difficulties. First of all, they are deprived of their childhood as childhood without school is incomplete. Each dropout may have a different set of challenges and also might have dropped out at different stage of school education. Therefore, the approach and course for dropouts need to address individual requirements. The aim of these initiative is to bring back the children to mainstream schooling and retain them there.

The project envisions to employs local youth as teachers in return for a nominal pay to help the children in the area to shore their subjects, boost their confidence and address the problems these children face in studies on an individual level. The classes will be typically in the evening hours. This will provide some income opportunity for educated bright local youth who have financial difficulty. Having different sessions on topics of interest related to academics may also generate interest among students towards education.
