There are millions of people in our country who are not only unemployed, but also unemployable. Irrespective of willingness to work, most are restricted by the limited opportunities and lack of specific skillsets required by the employers. Professional skills are essential to tap the emerging and traditional job prospects for youth and older age group, and thereby enhance their employability, workmanship, and livelihood opportunities. The identified three gaps in skill development are – (i) the current training facilities don’t train someone who doesn’t have a formal degree/certification, (ii) these facilities are concentrated in urban centres and charge fees which are unaffordable for most of the needy, and (iii) industries being location-specific, the demand-supply mismatch for certain skills in local areas creates a void that needs to be filled.

PeFSSED Abhiyan: Sikho aur Sikhao, in short PASS is about passing a skill from the skilled to one who is yet to acquire the same skill. PASS aims to create a platform which connects skilled people with those who need those specific skills for their improvement in capability, employability, career growth, particularly for those who have missed the mainstream. The innovativeness in this initiative comes from the inbuilt match-making between those who want to give training and those who need it.
